At Boston Country Meats we believe in sustainable farming. We are committed to producing nutritious food while also caring for our animals and the environment.
We continue to create traditional and traceable food.
We’ve always attempted to use as few artificial fertilizers, and chemicals as possible, focusing instead on enhancing biodiversity, and increasing climate resilience.
On the farm, we’ve also installed a number of bee boxes in order to maintain the flora’s long-term viability.
Retired Cows
After a few years of generating thousands of litres of milk, retired dairy cows, no longer produce milk. These dairy cows are turned out to pasture to gain weight on a natural diet. The meat they produce is nutrient-dense and flavorful, a flavor that can only be achieved through slow growth and maturation.
Because of its deep strong flavoring and excellent marbling, derived from a lifetime of eating on grass,’retired’ beef is becoming increasingly popular. We believe in sustainability at Boston Country Meats, which is why we take a ‘waste-not-want-not’ approach to beef production, using’retired’ dairy cattle.
